Max Verstappen dominated proceedings in the first Dutch Grand Prix since 1985, taking the victory to the delight of the adoring Dutch crowd.
Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes threw everything at the Red Bull driver but had to make do with second place, taking the fastest lap from Valtteri Bottas on the final lap.
Pierre Gasly pulled off a quiet but solid drive to finish in fourth ahead of Charles Leclerc in fifth and a charging drive from Fernando Alonso who finished in sixth, passing Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari on the final lap. Sainz had to settle for seventh, confused at his lack of pace.
Despite a flatspot forcing an early stop, Sergio Perez fought his way to eighth from the pitlane, with Esteban Ocon finishing in ninth and Lando Norris rounding out the points on a bad day for McLaren, who drop behind Ferrari in the standings.
Daniel Ricciardo finished in eleventh ahead of a the two Aston Martins of Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel, who had a bad day. Antonio Giovinazzi’s race was ruined by a puncture, whilst Robert Kubica enjoyed himself finishing in fifteenth place.
Nicholas Latifi finished in sixteenth ahead of George Russell, who retired with two laps to go but was classified ahead of Mick Schumacher who finished three laps down in eighteenth.
There were 2 retirements, both due to mechanical issues, Yuki Tsunoda and Nikita Mazepin.
