Max Verstappen set the fastest time on a 1.09.623 at his home race. 2 tenths of a second ahead of Valtteri Bottas’s Mercedes, which will no doubt bus his confidence ahead of qualifying for his home grand prix.
Lewis Hamilton was making up for lost time and ended up in third place ahead of Sergio Perez in fourth, Fernando Alonso in fifth, Lando Norris in sixth and the two Aston Martin cars of Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel
It was not as good a session for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc set the ninth fastest time, whilst his team-mate Carlos Sainz crashes at the banked Turn 3 and brought out the red flags. Whilst Pierre Gasly rounded out the top 10
