Belgian GP: Verstappen on top but ends session in wall

It was Max Verstappen who set the fastest time in second practice, by less than a tenth over his Mercedes rivals. However his session did not end the way he wanted, as he lost it at Malmedy and backed it into the wall.

He wasn’t the only driver to have an adventure at that corner, as Charles Leclerc crashed there earlier, bringing out the red flags for the first time.

Valtteri Bottas was second ahead of his team-mate Lewis Hamilton in third, whilst Fernando Alonso was fourth for Alpine. Pierre Gasly set the fifth fastest time ahead of Lance Stroll and Esteban Ocon, who had a spin early in the session.

Sebastian Vettel was eighth with Lando Norris in ninth, whilst Sergio Perez rounds out the top 10.

Here is the result of FP2 from Spa.
