He was almost eight tenths of a second ahead of the top Brit which was not Lewis Hamilton, it was Lando Norris who despite receiving minor injuries in a mugging at the euro final showed that is not phasing him. Lewis Hamilton was third.
Charles Leclerc set the fourth fastest time for Ferrari with Valtteri Bottas in fifth for Mercedes. Despite an early spin, Carlos Sainz was sixth ahead of Sebastian Vettel, Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon.
