F3 Austria: Schumacher dominates frenetic second race in Austria

The second race of the Formula 3 weekend was another frenetic one, which saw David Schumacher make the most of his reverse grid pole and lead throughout the race to take a long awaited first ever Formula 3 victory.

The battle for second was where things got frenetic. Roman Stanek was putting on a defensive show following a safety car resulting from a collision between Logan Sargeant and Tijmen Van Der Helm, with many faster customers wanting to get past. Jak Crawford managed to do so and looked like he could catch the leader but his car let him down which forced him to retire.

Juan Manuel Correa then looked eager to get past the Hitech driver. But he was hit from behind by Kaylen Frederick whilst the latter defended from Frederik Vesti, putting both out of contention. A charging Victor Martins then managed to get through, making a ridiculously brave pass, where he put a wheel on the grass. But 2 laps from the flag he had a mechanical failure which put him out.

But by this point, both Frederik Vesti and a charging Dennis Hauger from twelfth managed to get through to take second and third respectively, the latter extending his championship lead. Roman Stanek finished in fourth ahead of Jonny Edgar in fifth and Arthur Leclerc, who fought his way from the back of the grid to finish in sixth.

Jack Doohan finished in seventh with Enzo Fittipaldi in eighth, Olli Caldwell in ninth and Jonathan Hoggard picking up his maiden point in tenth place. Here is the full result, but take it with a pinch of salt as there may be a lot of penalties for track limits.
