After Mercedes topped the session yesterday, Red Bull made a statement, as Max Verstappen set the fastest time, a sizeable margin of half a second ahead of the two Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton. The latter had his laptime deleted for track limits.
Pierre Gasly was fourth for AlphaTauri. Antonio Giovinazzi had a great session to end fifth ahead of Carlos Sainz in sixth, Sergio Perez in seventh and Fernando Alonso in eighth. Charles Leclerc ended the session ninth with Sebastian Vettel rounding out the top 10.
It was a difficult session for McLaren who ended fifteenth and sixteenth, with Lando struggling to keep the car on the road.
