Austrian GP: Verstappen begins weekend on top

Max Verstappen set the fastest time in first practice on a 1.05.143, beginning the second weekend in Austria on top. He was almost 3 tenths of a second ahead of Charles Leclerc who struggled with his brakes. Carlos Sainz was third fastest ahead of Valtteri Bottas and a good start for Yuki Tsunoda.

It was a good start for Kimi Raikkonen in sixth ahead of Lewis Hamilton in seventh, Sergio Perez in eighth, Pierre Gasly in ninth and Lando Norris rounds out the top 10. It was a difficult morning out there on the prototype tyres, Lance Stroll in particular found things difficult, spinning twice.

Guanyu Zhou had his first practice experience, setting a time just 4 tenths of a second off of Esteban Ocon. Whilst Callum Ilott and Roy Nissany also took part in first practice.

Here is the result of FP1 from Austria.
