Max Verstappen got off to a good start in the first practice session at the Red Bull Ring in what could be a very important session if rain disrupts second practice this afternoon.
Pierre Gasly ended the session second fastest ahead of the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, with Yuki Tsunoda completing a good morning for AlphaTauri. Fernando Alonso was sixth fastest ahead of his team-mate Esteban Ocon, and Lance Stroll, with Antonio Giovinazzi and Charles Leclerc rounding out the top 10.
Track limits proved to be a real issue in the morning session with the biggest victim being Lando Norris, who found himself down in sixteenth due to having multiple laps deleted.
