F2 Azerbaijan: Vips takes sublime feature race victory

Juri Vips took his second win of the weekend, getting past team-mate Liam Lawson at the start, and despite initially losing out to Oscar Piastri in the pitstops, he managed to repass the Prema driver, and took an easy victory in Baku.

Liam Lawson was taken out of contention by a 10 second time penalty that he served in his pitstop for cutting across on Theo Pourchaire, who would subsequently be involved in an accident at Turn 3 involving himself, Dan Ticktum and Marcus Armstrong, with Pourchaire and Armstrong being taken out of the race, bringing out an initial safety car.

Oscar Piastri finished in second despite a 5 second penalty due to an unsafe, ahead of Robert Shwartzman capped off a good weekend to finish in third place from tenth, getting his season up and running. Felipe Drugovich finished in fourth place from eleventh with Ralph Boschung completing a solid weekend to finish in fifth.

Liam Lawson brought his car home in sixth ahead of Jehan Daruvala and an angry Dan Ticktum after he received a 10 second time penalty for his part in the first lap incident. Christian Lundgaard finished in ninth with Lirim Zendeli taking the final point in tenth. Championship leader Guanyu Zhou once again did not score any points, finishing in thirteenth. Whilst he still leads the standings, the gap up front to the two Prema cars has been closed significantly.
