The second practice at the Baku City Circuit saw Sergio Perez set the fastest time on a 1.42.115 in the Red Bull. He was a tenth ahead of his team-mate Max Verstappen, with the long run pace looking increasingly promising.
Ferrari showed good pace, with Carlos Sainz in third ahead of Charles Leclerc in fourth. However the latter did not have an easy session, as he lost his front wing in the Tecpro barriers during his qualifying run.
Pierre Gasly set the fifth fastest time ahead of Fernando Alonso in sixth, Antonio Giovinazzi in seventh and Lando Norris in eighth. Esteban Ocon set the ninth fastest time with Yuki Tsunoda rounding out the top 10.
Mercedes struggled in the session, with Lewis Hamilton in eleventh and Valtteri Bottas in sixteenth.
