F2 Monaco: Zhou dominates first race in Monaco

It was Guanyu Zhou who dominated proceedings in the first race at Monte-Carlo. He had reverse grid pole and led from start to finish to take his second straight Formula 2 victory. His only challenge came from Christian Lundgaard, who’s challenge was ended after an engine failure put him out of the race.

This allowed Felipe Drugovich to take second, which he maintained to the flag, completing a UNI-Virtuosi 1-2 finish ahead of Roy Nissany, who takes his maiden Formula 2 podium in third. Ralph Boschung took a career best fourth ahead of Juri Vips in fifth and Dan Ticktum in sixth.

Theo Pourchaire finished in seventh ahead of Oscar Piastri in eighth, Liam Lawson in ninth and Marcus Armstrong, who took reverse grid pole on the final lap with a bold pass on Jehan Daruvala at Rascasse.

It was a relatively straight race with 4 retirements. Marino Sato hit the barrier at Sainte Devote. Gianluca Petecof crashed and brought out the safety car. Christian Lundgaard had engine dramas as mentioned before, and Robert Shwartzman hit the barrier on the first lap.

Here is the result of Race 1 in Monaco.
