Spanish GP: Hamilton maintains Mercedes form but are Red Bull sandbagging?

Lewis Hamilton led his team-mate Valtteri Bottas to a Mercedes 1-2 in the afternoon practice session, showing blistering pace. It was a poor session for Red Bull, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez ending the session ninth and tenth. However there is speculation that they were running with their engine turned down, as the AlphaTauri was 11 kmh faster down the straight.

Charles Leclerc set a fast laptime to be third fastest ahead of a brilliant session for Alpine, who ended the session fourth and fifth fastest. It was a good session for AlphaTauri as well, ending sixth and seventh, with Carlos Sainz in eighth.

It was a disappointing session for McLaren, with both cars outside the top 10. However they have a history of being understated on Fridays.

Here is the result of FP2 from Barcelona.
