Max Verstappen once again topped the timesheets in Bahrain, setting a 1.30.847. The Red Bull looked extremely fast at the hands of the Dutchman, who led second placed Lando Norris by just under a tenth of a second.
Lewis Hamilton set the third fastest time, 2 tenths off the Red Bull, ahead of Carlos Sainz who set a good time to end the session fourth. Valtteri Bottas was fifth fastest, stating that the car was undriveable. It was not a good day for Mercedes.
Daniel Ricciardo set the sixth fastest time ahead of Yuki Tsunoda who set a solid time in seventh. Lance Stroll was eighth ahead of Pierre Gasly in ninth, completing a good session for AlphaTauri. With Sergio Perez ending the session tenth.
There were a few mistakes this afternoon. Nikita Mazepin had a spin in the early stages of the session. Shortly after Kimi Raikkonen found the barrier at Turn 3 and lost his front wing.
