Abu Dhabi GP: Race Preview

After a thrilling race on the Bahrain Outer circuit, Formula One heads to Yas Island, home of the spectacular Yas Marina Circuit for the final round of a crazy 2020 season. Lewis Hamilton is back after missing a race for the first time since 2006 as a result of a positive COVID-19 test, and is poised to end a record breaking season on a high.

The Yas Marina Circuit has a varying set of corners, parts of the circuit are fast and sweeping, whilst the final sector is remeniscent of a street circuit. The track features 2 DRS zones, one on the straight leading up to Turn 8, and another on what is effectively a second straight up towards Turn 11. However despite these two long straights, overtaking has not always been easy around this circuit.

A video lap will be uploaded in due course.

There are a lot of talking points going into the weekend. Whilst both titles are won, there are battles yet to be resolved. Will Sergio Perez hold onto fourth in the drivers standings after his win, as a lot can still change in that scrap behind the top 3. Racing Point are just ten points ahead of McLaren despite their win, with Renault still waiting in the wings, and a lot can change in that scrap. And also can Max Verstappen put Valtteri Bottas’s second place in the standings under threat?

For the final time this year we have the weekend schedule for the weekend. Of course the Road To F1 Review will not take place as both junior championships have drawn to a close, but the regular shows will still take place. Here is the weekend schedule.

Friday 11th December: Friday Recap – 17:00GMT
Saturday 12th December: Qualifying Day Review – 17:00GMT
Sunday 13th December: Race Review – 17:00GMT

Finally I want to apologise for the lack of activity on RaceWeek over the past week, it has been a busy week finishing assignments and it has been hard to find the time to put out the regular content. Hopefully the majority of the content that would usually be uploaded will go up in the coming days.
