Sakhir F2: Tsunoda takes pole whilst Schumacher is under investigation in chaotic session

22 cars fighting for space on a short track like this was always going to be frenetic and it was. The main talking point of the session was an incident at the end where Mick Schumacher had his lap ruined by many cars trying to warm their tyres and made contact with Roy Nissany, damaging both cars and bringing out the red flag. Mick is under investigation so for him it could get worse than a lowly eighteenth.

It was Yuki Tsunoda who took pole position once again for Carlin ahead of Nikita Mazepin who will start in second. Jehan Daruvala completes a good qualifying for Carlin and will start in third ahead of Robert Shwartzman who had a much better handle of his Prema than his team-mate did.

Felipe Drugovich qualified in fifth ahead of Christian Lundgaard in sixth, Artem Markelov with his best qualifying of the season in seventh and Dan Ticktum in eighth. It was a bad qualifying session for Callum Ilott, as he qualified in ninth, his second worst of the season. Whilst Louis Deletraz rounds out the top 10.

Here is the provisional starting grid for tomorrow’s Sakhir Grand Prix.
