Bahrain F2: Drugovich takes first Feature Race victory

Kicking off Day 2 in Bahrain was the Feature Race for Formula 2, which saw Felipe Drugovich who took his first Feature Race victory and his third win overall. He was challenged for the win by Callum Ilott, who got ahead after the pitstops, but Felipe took back the lead and did not look back. Despite missing out on the victory it was still a good race championship wise for Callum Ilott.

Jehan Daruvala took his maiden podium, just fending off Mick Schumacher, who got up to fourth on the opening lap and was there on the alternate strategy, but the Prema was not quite able to make the move stick. Nikita Mazepin finished in fifth for Hitech ahead of Yuki Tsunoda, who worked his way from the back of the field to finish in sixth after a statement drive. Marcus Armstrong finished in seventh ahead of Robert Shwartzman, who despite a poor first stint and older tyres at the end managed to take reverse grid pole. Dan Ticktum struggled with his tyres to finish in ninth, with Jack Aitken taking the final point in tenth.

Pedro Piquet finished eleventh ahead of Luca Ghiotto who struggled with tyres. Sean Gelael returned to Formula 2 with a thirteenth place ahead of Guanyu Zhou, who’s bad luck continued as contact on the opening lap that was not really his fault, or anyone else’s fault, forced him to pit. All 22 cars saw the checkered flag.
