Bahrain GP: Hamilton in fine form on dog day in Bahrain

It was an incident packed session that saw two red flags. One after Alexander Albon crashed his Red Bull at the final corner, heavily damaging his Red Bull car and surely damaging his confidence. And then immediately as the green flag came on, a stray dog managed to make its way onto the track bringing out the red flag for a second time.

These interruptions meant the teams were unable to get the data that they wanted to get. Lewis Hamilton’s qualifying simulation was delayed but he set the fastest time of the session on a 1.28.971. Max Verstappen looks like he could be a match for the two Mercedes, as he split them and ended the session second fastest. Valtteri Bottas was third ahead of Sergio Perez in fourth and Daniel Ricciardo in fifth.

Pierre Gasly showed good pace in the AlphaTauri to finish in sixth ahead of the McLaren of Lando Norris in seventh. Lance Stroll ended the session in eighth fastest ahead of Daniil Kvyat, completing a good day for AlphaTauri, with Alexander Albon rounding out the top 10 after his crash. It was a bad session for Ferrari, neither car was in the top 10.

Here is the result of FP2 from Bahrain.
