Bahrain GP: Race Preview

After another 2 week break, Formula One kicks off the season closing triple header by heading to the Bahrain International Circuit for Round 15 of the 2020 season.

The Bahrain International Circuit is built on the island desert that is home to the kingdom of Bahrain, playing host to its first grand prix in 2004. Designed by Hermann Tilke, this circuit has lent itself to some great racing over the years including the epic duel between the two Mercedes’ of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in 2014. The flowing 15 corners and 3 DRS zones encourage great racing and overtaking.

Here is a video guide to the circuit

There are 3 DRS zones. One on the run up to the opening corner which sees the majority of the overtakes in the races, one in the run up to Turn 4, which allows for drivers to switch back on the exit of the corner to regain a lost place, and one on the run up to Turn 11. This track often has a peculiar effect on tyres, which is likely to be seen in both F1 and F2 this weekend. The latter returns to action for the first time since Sochi, where there are titles still on the line, with Mick Schumacher looking the favourite to take the crown, though its unlikely it’ll be done this weekend. There was a threat of rain earlier on but that threat seems to have passed as now dry weather is expected for the weekend.
