After a week break, Formula One heads to the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, more commonly known as Imola, for Round 13 of 17, heading to this famous circuit for the first time since 2006, and has been much missed by F1 fans since then.
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari winds its way around the houses, hotels and restaraunts in a rural area near the Italian town of Imola, which is 25 miles from the city of Bologna. Having hosted its first Formula One race in 1980, this 4.909 kilometre circuit contains many famous and thrilling corners, such as the Tamburello Chicane, Acque Minerali and the downhill Rivazza.
Here is a video guide to this circuit.
The obvious overtaking zone will be the main straight, heading into the Tamburello chicane, being the only DRS zone on the circuit. The final chicane which was present the last time F1 went here is no longer used, allowing a longer pit straight and easier overtaking. Other corners such as Tosa and Rivazza could see some overtakes if the driver behind is close enough. Whilst much of the circuit consists of fast corners which will likely be exciting to watch in qualifying trim, particularly the Mercedes. A difference this weekend however is the lack of a Friday practice. The Saturday session has been extended to 90 minutes however there will be limited opportunities to learn the tyres, which could lead to a more interesting race.
